Join Us for the final YLG Talk of the Year!

Join us on October 21 for the final YLG Talk of the year with Metrolinx! The Hamilton LRT project will play a key role in the revitalization of Hamilton’s urban environment by transforming how residents travel across the heart of the city. Modern light rail service will connect key areas, destinations and institutions along Main Street, King Street and Queenston Road, creating a 14-kilometre multi-modal corridor and an enhanced streetscape. Attendees of this YLG Talk will hear an update on the progress of the transformative project, where they are in the tender stage and what is next.

About Our Presenters:

• Mike Becke, Civil Engineer and the Senior Project Manager, Infrastructure for Metrolinx on the Hamilton LRT. Before joining Metrolinx in 2022, Mike worked at the City of Hamilton for almost 20 years in various roles in Public Works and Development Engineering.  The majority of his career at the City was with Engineering Services in Public Works, where he worked on city infrastructure projects that were designed and tendered in-house. Before working at the City, Mike worked in consulting, where he was involved in heavy civil and highway projects.

• Kelly Anderson, Senior Manager of Community Engagement at Metrolinx - overseeing community and stakeholder engagement activities for Hamilton, Niagara, Guelph and Kitchener-Waterloo. She has been with Metrolinx for five years. Previously, Kelly was the City of Hamilton’s Manager of Communications and Engagement for the Hamilton Light Rail Transit (LRT) Project.  Prior to her role with Hamilton LRT, Kelly was a Communications Officer in the City of Hamilton’s Public Works Department for 10 years, developing strategic communications plans and managing emerging issues for high-profile projects and issues.

Wondering what a YLG Talk is? They are educational sessions with subject-matter experts to speak on a variety of topics. Some sessions have one speaker, some have multiple or cover different topics. The Young Leaders Group organizes the events for the entire HHCA membership (not just young individuals). All YLG Talks feature a light breakfast and lots of time to network, plus they are FREE for HHCA members to attend!
